DIY Home Interior Design (and recycling projects)

I've moved into a new apartment. It's not a very big one, it's close to the city center, but still - when I go out I can hear birds singing. It is nice to get a place in the city where you can sit on evenings in front of your building under aromatic lilacs and enjoy the scent of flowering jasmines. Well, new living space means a lot of creative job - it truly makes me happy despite the fact that couple of weeks we will live with no electricity in the bedroom and pretty ugly walls in the living room. It really doesn't matter if I keep in mind that we will slowly renovate and redecorate our home step by step one step at a time learning to manage our finances wisely.

It means, we have some home interior projects that are going to get real very soon. We are going to repaint walls, build "fake fireplace" for candles, make some recycled rugs, lamp shades... So far we've been sleeping on the floor, so bed from used pallets is also one of those projects that should see the daylight soon. I've been collecting pictures from the internet with easy interior design ideas and now we have some place to realize them :)

No, nothing really is done in our new home yet, just the basil has got their heads out of the ground in seeding pots on a windowsill :)

Here are some pictures from my home for you to get the ideas for home decoration for your home! Well, nothing much has been done here yet, so I'm sharing my "half-projects" and some basic ideas for home decoration (click on pictures to enlarge them):

Bathroom windowsill with candles, scented bamboo sticks and seashells.

Bathroom with seashells (that hide some ugly nails on the wall) and some seashell - glass "pearl" decoration.

This is for hiding broken chair surface - crocheted using woolen yarn and old t-shirt strips.

That's my lemongrass, basil, chives, catnip, lemon balm and dill on a kitchen windowsill  - for scent, spice and tea and green life in the kitchen :)
Well, just some small decor with dried rose petals and small glass balls.

These masks will find a place on the wall after we will get done with wall paining. I bought them white (and they were really cheap) and painted.

And this is how old t-shirts are getting a new life: they will live in a rug made from used fabric strips, and, yes, that's a hula-hoop that  makes a perfect supporting frame for making a round rug :)

We still don't have a clear idea of how our new home should look like, but we will figure it out step by step, and I'm going to share the process and results :) If you have some home design ideas using recycled materials - feel free to share them in comments! Also, I'll appreciate if you share your ideas  and easy home design projects.
